Want dedicated Search Bar back in Internet Explorer 9

Want dedicated Search Bar back in Internet Explorer 9 I was using Internet Explorer 8, and I was loving the experience when I took this decision of upgrading to Internet Explorer 9. I had no issues with this too, till I happened to note that the new version doesn’t have a search bar. That came as a shock to me. That was one of the best features about IE8. I am damn sure, Microsoft is sensible enough not to fiddle with such a feature and they must have thought of a customization option. I wanted to know about it, if any. IE9 just don’t have that feature. So, I had no other go but to switch to Firefox and Chrome. IE, I miss u!!! But I love using IE too much to give up. I guess you all did not notice the search cum address bar called a Private OneBox. It works in a similar way. They have integrated the search bar and the address bar together where you can probably add new search engines too. It works fine, not as awesome as a dedicated search bar, though! First of all, when I upgraded, I lost my preference set - meaning the 8 tabs that automatically come up when I start IE. This was so automatic, I couldn't remember everything I'd had! What a crock! I can't stand the look of it anyway - something about it seems odd and less user-friendly than IE8. Now we don't even have a search bar! There are times when I'm looking at a page and would like to open another tab and search for something. In Chrome, not only can I highlight something on a page but I have an option to have Chrome open another tab and search - all with one click. There is no such option in IE. Now I have to highlight the item on the page, click to open a new tab, paste to the address bar, press Enter (because even that isn't automatic)...it's a HUGE step backwards. While there are definitely things not to like about Chrome, this search feature is enough to ruin IE for me. What in the world were those idiots thinking? Reply With Quote Reply

Is it a good idea to hide real name as a forum admin?

Is it a good idea to hide real name as a forum admin? Hey guys I have been thinking to come up with a small forum site, should we mind in using our original name and I want to know that is it compulsory to use the different user name then our original name and is sharing up your own picture is a good idea? why is it necessary what’s the use just share up your suggestion guys I want to know a lot about it and please helping me getting the information about it share up your experience about it please? Hello; Well telling you the truth I would never mind to use my original name but there is not at all a problem by people knowing us, It’s just not compulsory but we use different user name to get a unique identity so that if a person commenting with the same name should not confuse between the administrator and member so there is actually no problem is coming up with the name but I would say yes pic would be a different thing I won’t like this putting up the pic is not a good idea. I do not hide my identity, where there is a will there is a way. If a person wants to find out who you are they will. I use different username to my real name, but the administrator rights on my behalf and users can know my real name for reading my profile. The reason I do is to connect to the database of members on a personal level. I think it helps build trust with my members. And picture stuff is different it should not be used anyways and there is not compulsion to use the different username. I have a different story I have been using a different username because I have found it as a trend over all the form and i do like this because your personal identity is safe and it would let have a good relationship with the user and your members and basically I do mention my name if needed in the comment and this would be a good idea I think because displaying of name without any reason is not a good idea I think. I use my original nick name always I have never hided my identity and in all the comments I write my name first so that the user should know with whom they are having a chat and I don’t have any problem with that so I think this has no problem at all and you can defiantly use it and nor pics would be minded you can use that to and I would recommend it if you are a male administrator I think females should always try to maintain privacy that would be better for them. I used to use my real name, but now I can use my Internet name. I usually do not reveal my name to the members, but I just do not use it as my username. As for my name, do not show that unless you have a reason. As for the photos, so I have a scanner or digital camera, so I have no way to even get up, but if I could I would teach them to private people to trust, but that's all. I use the same method on my own site, as you would anywhere else. This is not a really a problem with the admin to use their own real name but this is a format which has to be followed by the admin on his forum site so that there is more amount of trust and a good relation between the member and the admin and also some sort of privacy has to be maintained, sometime there is some problem like when the user knows that he is directly talking to the owner they try to disrespect and some stuffs this are the fake members who just try to annoy and mess things up and there are more some reasons which have been mentioned above all of these things are to be taken care by the forum admin. And now i think i know why we don't need to use our own name and what all are the problems and the conditions and i think i may have some questions over my forums and all ahead i would be coming back with them. How is Forum Integrity maintained & User satisfaction reached?

How is Forum Integrity maintained & User satisfaction reached? Hello guys I have been thinking to have my own forum now and I know that there are two major factors which has to be considered in this is maintain the integrity for the forum and making the users satisfied but I want to know how to reach these things and i want some suggestions quickly so please guys share your experience as I know there are lots of people who know a lot about all this so please I need help from you all please help me? Reply With Quote #2 Old 13-07-2011 Eber's Avatar Eber Eber is offline Member Join Date: Nov 2009 Posts: 714 Re: How is Forum Integrity maintained & User satisfaction reached? Hey friend this is really nice points to be taken care off while having the forums I would appreciate your thinking that you have thought of it anyways lets come on the point I have certain thinking about these things like if you are about to have the integrity throughout the forum the first thing you have to take care of that the comments and the replies must be according to the topic the members should not be diverted to any other topic because if they would be having this defiantly would be getting some members and long posts but the other users who would be visiting to your site for some help would be irritated by looking at the unwanted talks and all so it is preferred to have a logical talk always. And for the member satisfaction there are few thing like ither be polite with them if you don’t have solution and if you have it just try to give the best solutions that’s it. The best way to have the member’s satisfactory from your side you need to follow some basic rule like if you want to inspire loyalty is to show loyalty. You cannot expect people to go to bat for you if you are not prepared to do the same for them, though not necessarily agree with them all the time. You are a team more than anything else, and that means you have to work together if they want to succeed in anything. In my view, the role of the administrator on that computer is the 'figure'. They make the last call in situations where opinions are divided and there are convincing arguments both ways, because they own the forum, and the ultimate responsibility of the community is theirs. If a forum crashes and burns, can be absolutely sure it will moderate the overbearing boss that has a reputation for pushing through bad decisions - it will be the manager, the guy or girl, whose name and whose search. I would agree with these guys been polite with the members would really do a lots of work and this would help you a lot and if you don’t have a proper solution you just need to ask for some time for getting up to the solution and then you would be answering them back quickly and try not to keep the post empty I mean if there are certain questions asked by them I would tell you don’t remain quite reply something to them some solution to try or some request but do reply and the point of the maintaining the integrity you have to be on the topic always or a bit of the distance should be allowed. Ok for this I have some simple examples like what to do when members request things that are not possible, feasible, and appropriate. This is actually a reasonably simple. Just answer and public education as opposed to the exact reasons why such a request is not possible. And "Because I do not think I need" is not a valid answer! Explain why you are not needed. Or not. Personally, when applications are made in the forums I'm running I have to go down, not even speak my own opinion I do my best to present the facts that led me to believe, as the person responsible for maintaining the community which the current request is not in the best interests of the forum. Maintain means impersonal and free opinion that people are less likely to believe that you are simply reject the idea because they dint liked it or dint thought on it. Forum integrity is mostly maintained by the having a talk and a proper conversation completely on the topic the should not be taken away from it for no reason as like the topic says something else and the members have started some different situation and then there can be a different conversation and then may be a fight and all so these things should be taken care of that on such sites there should be nothing like chatting and all they should be maintained as a proper solution's and suggestions sites only and if this is maintained automatically the members would be happy and then you can maintain the customer satisfaction to so i things they both are related with each other some what. I need some suggestion on forums software

need some suggestion on forums software To run an open community you need a better cms software and today there are ample of services that provide both support for forums and portal. Here I am confused between lots of software support. I need help to finalize which one will be better. I found many of users commenting in phpBB. Is this a nice software which deals with almost all aspects of an forums management. I do not find much support on this, what other can I try. Reply With Quote #2 Old 13-07-2011 Eber's Avatar Eber Eber is offline Member Join Date: Nov 2009 Posts: 714 Re: I need some suggestion on forums software It is true that phpBB is not very secure. But by making 3 or 4 security measures in hand, we get easily a fairly secure forum: moving and renaming the file config.php, htaccess file on the administration, removing the possibility of destroying an entire forum in the administration panel. Already there, this script kiddies **** enough for it to go to another forum. And adding a few protective measures, then it becomes very secure. So yeah, phpBB is relatively poorly secured. But it can be easily managed. It is too resource hungry. I had problems with my old host because of phpBB though it was not very crowded. The same asked me off the search and lots of other stuff. Now I have a SMF. I am really happy, and administration and maintenance is really good. And it is less demanding than phpBB. SMF is clearly better than phpBB2 in terms of functionality. You can test both and then finalize which you want. Joomla is an advance cms system. It supports a large number of extensions and a powerful API which offers you higher flexibility. You can manage your entire work without any major issue and development is also possible on this. For that you can try several CMS and this really will not be a hard task. There is also an another web application which is called as OpenSourceCMS. This offers a collection of content management systems, and also a diverse collection of free software such as CMS, wikis, e-commerce, etc. They are all popular, as Drupal, PHPNuke, Wordpress, etc. Of course, there is only PHP-based systems, if you have decided to try some here are my recommendations Drupal, Joomla and Mambo. Java CMS for intranet and external website with version of all content, permissions and powerful document management. But this is costly. Sony Unveils Another World First

Sony today announced its first worldwide creative campaign for Sony BRAVIA(R) televisions. The company built the BRAVIA-drome, the centerpiece for Sony's latest marketing campaign, to provide customers with a visual demonstration of Sony's Motionflow technology.

The BRAVIA-drome was inspired by the zoetrope, a device invented in the 19th century to create short 'films' from a series of static images. This modern day zoetrope is 10 meters across, spins at over 40 kph and is the optimal medium for demonstrating how Motionflow 240Hz technology clearly displays today's fast-action motion pictures.

Sony selected soccer for its continuous movement to fully demonstrate the clarity of Motionflow 240Hz for customers. The technology effortlessly eliminates jerkiness and smoothes the flight of the ball as it hits the net, making fans that are watching the game within the comfort of their own homes feel as though they are at the stadium.

The commercial is filming in a square in Venaria, near Turin, and stars FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon d'Or holder, Brazilian soccer sensation Kaka. The FIFA World Cup winner will appear in a series of images inside the BRAVIA-drome performing some of his legendary skills. To add to the excitement, soccer juggling champion Dan Magness will make an appearance at the shoot as he attempts to smash three Guinness World Records. Magness, already known for breaking several different soccer records, has trained some of the very best players in the world - from Francesco Totti to Michael Owen - in the art of controlling a soccer ball.
